Susie Adsett
'Holding Desire'
July 7th - July 29th 2002
Susie is a Leeds based artist who has exhibited work over the past ten years. She describes herself as a painter but her work extends beyond her training into experimental techniques and digital imagery.
Work featured in the show 'Holding Desire' is concerned with the intimate space that desire holds between touch and visual sensation. They depict objects which relate to the maternal touch to interrupt and mark this space. She uses the trace of a painted image transferred onto insubstantial surfaces to retain the mark of the artist, but discard the physicality of paint.
Susie is also Head of Art at Harrogate Rossett School as well as studying part time on the MA in Feminism & the Visual Arts at Leeds University. She has added an extra year to her studies to produce this new body of work.
