Andrew Livingston & George Morris

9 March - 4 April 2007

Andrew Livingston and George Morris first met in 1985 whilst working on high profile national and international film, television and theatre productions. Both became disillusioned with the entertainment industry and they began painting together, creating first a series about the show business they would soon happily leave behind, introducing their visual black comedy to the world.

Together, they have enjoyed a period of listening to the music of Frank Zappa - working on a series of paintings inspired by his songs - which was followed by work that commented on the obsessive world of the collector - and the first time they had worked jointly on paintings - which was exhibited in 2005. Whether it is because of a shared obsessive compulsion or that it is more practical for the two to agree, Livingston's and Morris’s practice is filled with collections of collections, and they can all be found at Brahm Gallery in March.
